Jealousy fits, rivalry, gossips, or worse TEARS…!
Some colleagues (mostly women one has to admit) sometimes forget that we’re at work. So I say : what if we try to maintain a certain of level of dignity, dammit!
- Gertrude: “Ok, but you know, I’m fed up with this, we wanted to throw a farewell party for Kevin [Kevin the 3-month-intern…].”
- Boss : “Gertrude, you’re not Kevin’s tutor.”
- Gertrude: “Yeah, I know you told not to organise this party, but still [me to myself: “BUT STILL WHAT?”] [and this is when the nightmare begins…]… (sobbing) but… (sobbing)… because you see… (sobbing)… I’m tired [me to myself: “what the fuck does this have anything with this crazy discussion, which has been going on for 10 minutes now???].”
At this very moment, if you’re like me, this only thing you wanna do is smack her in the head and tell her: “Alright Gertrude, stop being a pain in the ass for an intern’s farewell party, get your shit together! Go to the bathroom, calm down and go back to work.”
Except that politeness does not allow you to react this way.
Instead, you repeat yourself “All I am is Love, Empathy and Kindness, OOOMMMMMM”.
She comes back, you comfort her, tell her it’s ok, no one is dead, but she has to show some respect to Alex (Kevin’s tutor), giving him the chance to organise the farewell party of the 152nd intern we received in the department…!
Help me God…!
